Aquaculture
Since 2024, Ultramins has also been active in the aquaculture market. This market includes fish and shrimp farming and is one of the largest food-producing industries in the world. Clean water is a must for healthy farming, but often that is where the pain is and it is difficult to keep the water free of pathogens. Viruses and bacteria pose a major threat to fish and shrimp farming. Consequently, millions of tonnes of yield are lost every year due to diseases. Mortality rates of 25% are quite normal in 'normal' conditions, but can go up considerably when diseases break out, up to the entire harvest.
Currently, the industry mainly uses chemicals and drugs to prevent diseases, which has a major impact on the environment and the people working in this industry.
USAF™ cavitating ultrasonic transmitters are very useful in shrimp and salmon farming. The transmitters are perfectly capable of treating the water against excessive algae growth, controlling and eliminating bacteria, fungi and viruses. The transmitters are used in all kinds of culture. The big advantage is that using the transmitters improves both water quality and animal welfare by significantly reducing the use of chemicals. This also benefits the environment by reducing or even eliminating chemicals from surface water. There are also major economic benefits, by reducing labour and resource costs, but also by increasing yields at the end of the breeding cycle.
